MATTE ARGYLE, is a specialty retailer at Runway Playa Vista, a modern shopping concept within the well known Silicon Beach Community in Playa Vista(LA), California. The assortment is carefully curated with designs from emerging and well-known designers, artists and products for men and women, offering streetwear, ready-to-wear, and luxury clothing, accessories & gifts.
Our Story
Founder of Matte Argyle, and celebrity fashion stylist, Tashiba Jones-Wilson has worked in television and film for more than 25 years, styling the “Who’s Who of Hollywood. As a Costume Designer and Stylist, she’s worked on such shows as ABC’s “Black-ish", HBO’s “Insecure” and Netflix series “Family Reunion. ”
Jones-Wilson also serves as the Fashion Coordinator of the annual, star-studded Wearable Art Gala in association with Where Art Can Occur Theatre Center (WACO), a non-profit LA theatre. Tina Knowles Lawson, the mother of Grammy-winning recording artist, Beyonce, and her husband, Richard Lawson, serve as artistic directors of the event,and choose the theme of the gala every year.
Tashiba's love of fashion began as a teen, and by the age of 16, she landed her first retail job at Clothestime, in Gardena, Calif. She would go on to have an extensive career in retail, working in department stores, such as Macy's and Sears as well as special apparel retailers, like The Limited, Brooks Brothers & Contempo Casuals. During her retail days, she worked as sales associate, assistant store manager and visual display coordinator. Ready for a new challenge, Tashiba moved into fashion styling and costume designing in the entertainment industry with her first client – that is, Grammy winner Chaka Khan.
Tashiba also received an Associate’s Degree in Visual Communications and Space Design from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) Los Angeles.
She serves on the executive regional advisory board of Young Life Los Angeles.
